Welcome to my gallery! Please enjoy yourself as you experience the excitement and beauty of my artwork.
I am primarily a sculptor of Limited Edition western bronze pieces, created to embrace and celebrate America’s western heritage. My western oil paintings are a recent addition to my repertoire and are an extension of my western sculptures.
As an Arizona transplant, I was intrigued by the history and traditions of the west. I visited historical sights. I attended local rodeos, shooting exhibitions, and calf-roping contests. I read books dealing with the legends of the west. I studied the artwork of Remington. When I began sculpting, I knew I wanted to create traditional cowboy sculptures that would show the action, the energy, the spirit and the freedom of this west thus sharing with others some of the heritage I found so exciting.
When I began sculpting my Native American collection, I decided that instead of portraying the traditional, historical image, I wanted to concentrate on the spiritual, mystical aspect of the Native American. For the most part, I would not depict a single tribe or individual but would create generic images suggested by the folklore I had studied, and then blend these images with a sophisticated contemporary appearance.
Since the west would not be the west without horses and indigenous wildlife, I decided to create an Equine and Wildlife collection as a complement to my Cowboy and Native American collections.
As a student of the human form, I have spent hours and hours sketching nudes to study muscle tone and composition. As a sculptor, the natural progression of this study led to my Classical and Romantic collection.
Action, detail, and anatomical correctness are the hallmarks of all of my sculptures and paintings as is my passion to capture the energy and the tremendous muscular stress exhibited by my subjects. These qualities lend excitement to my pieces and my unprecedented attention to detail makes them come to life.
Thank you for visiting my website and for your interest in my artwork. If you have any questions regarding my sculptures or paintings or would like to place an order or commission a specific work of art, please send me a message via the Contact page and I will do my best to answer you.
